Kim D’Arcy, MS, LMFT
I have dedicated my entire professional career to the support, guidance, teaching, healing and health of young people. This includes lovingly logging well over 20,000 hours of direct experience with youth: Facilitating play-based therapy, coaching youth sports, leading adventure-based family therapy and outdoor youth programming, producing international and local theater groups, training school-yard peace coaches, living amongst students in residence halls, managing student affairs, teaching in classrooms, and counseling in schools. And, in all of this time, nothing has concerned me more than the impact of screen use and media exposure on childhood development and family cohesion.
As the mother of two boys now in middle and high school, I have been a direct witness to the pernicious impact of technology on children, and have wrestled with finding approaches and strategies that work to preserve connection, stability, and harmony in family life. After years of studying this topic and staying current on the most recent and relevant neurological, social-emotional, and mental health related findings, I feel that I can offer a curated version of those lessons, and their applications, in order to help you successfully rise up and meet the parenting challenge of our time.
